Rob Merritt is a 42-year Aspen resident with a bachelor’s degree and doctoral studies in Music Education from Oklahoma University, and a master’s degree in Performance from Denver University. A trumpet player beginning at the age of 5, he has performed at the International Trumpet Symposium, with “Manheim Steamroller, “The Temptations, the Theatre Aspen productions of “Hairspray” in 2017 and 
“Ragtime” in 2018, and countless local musicals and orchestras. Rob established an exemplary band and jazz band program in Glenwood Springs, taught in Aspen and Basalt, and at an International School in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. He retired in 2011 and has been assisting directors and working with students in Aspen through the JAS education initiative and assists with the Roaring Fork Youth Orchestra. He is interested in teaching and working with any student who shows interest in learning more about performance on their instrument. He expects students to practice and demonstrate improvement on assignments he 
provides. He will gladly work with students on their School Band Class assignments and coordinate his teaching to supplement their band class expectations. He teaches at his home in Aspen or is willing to travel to any home in the Aspen area.
